Success at the Vitality Big Half

It was chilly and bright, in a marked improvement on last year’s conditions! Five inspirational runners set off to take on the Vitality Big Half in aid of Magpie Dance.

13.1 miles later (or 21 kilometres for the metric minded) our runners had done us proud; taking in some great sights and crossing London Bridge on an iconic route.

Stewie, Pete, Reece, James and Adam together raised over £2,000 for Magpie Dance. A special mention to Stewie for completing his first ever half marathon.

“We love hearing success stories, not just of our participants, but our fundraisers too. Benefiting over 450 participants each year, we couldn’t deliver all our work, if it wasn’t for people like Adam, James, Pete, Reece and Stewie choosing to raise money for us. Thank you – we’re proud of your success and delighted to receive this sponsorship to enable us to support more participants at Magpie Dance” Laura Graham, Executive Director.

How your fundraising helps
There are many ways Magpie Dance could spend the money raised, such as…

A facilitator for one and a half terms ensuring participants are supported by experts in their field…
Two public performances (for one group of dancers) providing dancers with the opportunity to perform on a professional stage in front of an audience. Inspiring and challenging audiences whilst developing our creative repertoire…
A live musician 33 times providing stimulation and collaboration of live music for participants.
And if you wonder why that’s important, here’s what our dancers say: 100% feel more confident; 97% are happier; 92% say Magpie Dance makes them feel good about themselves; 90% say they meet new people and make new friends.

35 for £35
The impact of your fundraising shouldn’t be underestimated. According to our participants, the long-term activities give them a sense of belonging, stability, happiness, and safety. £2,000 could also pay for one class for a full term.
If running a half marathon isn’t your thing and you’d like to raise funds for us, why not consider “35 for 35”? As this year marks our 35th Anniversary we’re encouraging our supporters to pick an activity and fundraise £35 (or £350 or more!).

We’ve set out some ideas of how you can support us.

If you’ve been inspired to raise fund for us and would like more guidance, please do get in touch. We’d also like to be able to say thank you so drop us a line.
