It’s one of our favourite days of the year here at Magpie Dance – International Dance Day! In celebration of this very special day, the Magpie Dance Team are proud to announce our new online programme, ‘Virtually Magpie’.
Over the past few months, the team have been working hard to find ways to reach a wider audience under the current artistic theme of technology. Our fantastic Artistic Director, Alison Ferrao has been significant in driving this theme, encouraging dancers to have new experiences with technology in relation to dance. Although Covid-19 has posed many issues, we still want to give everyone a chance to experience when dance and technology collide – and ‘Virtually Magpie’ is a new and exciting way to do this!
‘Virtually Magpie’ will be launching on 11th May 2020, at 10am on the Magpie Dance website. The programme allows participants to take part in sessions from the safety and security of their own home. There will be three daily sessions: ‘Technique at 10’, ‘Midday Movers’, and an exciting new addition ‘Film at Four’, where participants can watch performances and see behind the scenes of Magpie Dance projects and performances throughout the past 35 years!
Through ‘Virtually Magpie’, we are now able to offer our sessions to a much wider range of people. To join in, all you need is access to the internet. All classes are inclusive, free and require no registration!
We can’t wait to launch this programme and we’re working hard to get all of the finishing touches together. Until then, keep your eye on our website, subscribe to our YouTube channel, and follow our social media platforms for updates and activities to keep you moving until the release of ‘Virtually Magpie’.
