The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was a big celebration at Magpie Dance. We celebrated by performing at celebration events and even got to represent ourselves at the Platinum Party at the Palace!
On Friday 3rd June our Wednesday Magpie Youth performed a piece they have been working on for Global Moves and Grooves. They performed an African dance style at the Bromley Platinum Concert at Queens Gardens. This was a lovely event, and we were so excited to be involved! Thank you so much for inviting us!
The celebration continued at Maple Road Street in Penge on Saturday where our Thursday Magpie Community Group performed a piece they have been working on. Our dancers took the audience to New Zealand, performing their Haka piece!
Last but certainly not least, one of our very own Dancers, Lauren, got to attend the Platinum Party at the Palace concert with her mum at Buckingham Palace. Lauren said, “The Jubilee Platinum concert was brilliant, amazing, I danced along with the music. My favoruite was queen singing ‘We are the Champions’ and diversity; I was so excited. Thank you very much to Magpie and the Princes Charitable Trust fund, Mum and I felt really lucky to have been part of this historic concert and to sit right in front of the royal box!” We are so happy Lauren and her mum got to have this once in a lifetime experience.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising these wonderful events and for inviting Magpie Dance to perform and get involved!
