Facilitators and musicians have been working with students and staff in the schools, exploring our current artistic theme Our Land which examines climate change through the lens of the four elements: Air, Earth, Water & Fire.
The workshops have been supported by Magpie Dance Ambassadors, adults dancers with learning disabilities who have undertaken internal training to support delivery of outreach programmes. They are strong role models who inspire the children and young people we are working with – some of whom have never experienced dance before.
We are delighted to have received positive feedback from the schools we are working with, one school said
“Magpie Dance have been absolutely amazing. Thank you to each and every one of your artists, they are super skilled and super lovely humans! The Ambassadors are really amazing at being role models for our students.
The sensory elements of the sessions work so well – ensuring every child is are able to engage in their own way. The full drum kit makes the sessions feel extra special and it’s a really unique thing for the pupils to experience. Staff look forward to the sessions every week too!”
We are now working on creating a film as a legacy for this project which will be released later this year.
